Exotic Weddings at Heritance Kandalama
It was wedding time over the weekend and a chic modern love-fest came along with an evening of good food, friends, and music and of course a splendid location.
Stealing our hearts with an unbelievably picturesque wedding woven with a layer of total intimacy and warmth, it was a reception at the newly opened 'Kathikawa' Room at the Heritance Kandalama with endless views of the glistening lake and sunset across the picturesque horizon.
Usually, when one picks a dream wedding venue, there are always the logistics to worry about;
- How many guests can it hold?
- Are there different capacities for different rooms?
- Can you have your ceremony and reception there?
- Will there be on-site accommodation for guests?
- Is there plenty of parking?
And the list goes on.
For Debbie and Gayan , the journey of a lifetime began in the Dambulla wilderness , on a magical oasis that elephants, birds, butterflies and a large number of species of animals call home
.
I managed to capture a few exciting preparations for the wedding and couple, before the show unfolded.
Getting Married at Heritance Kandalama
Designed by world renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, Heritance Kandalama offers unbelievable exotic weddings with sunsets across the vast horizon for a picturesque destination wedding.
Be pampered while getting up close and personal with luscious forests and a serene lake, all visible from your room. Retire to the elegant ‘Six Senses‘spa for one-of-a-kind treatments or relax in the luxurious infinity pool with remarkable views.
Incorporate Sri Lankan culture into your unique wedding with a traditional celebration, complete with tying the knot overlooking the surrounding landscape —perfect for intimate ceremonies.
‘KATHIKAWA’
The ‘Kathikawa’ sits atop the hotel, wrapped with splendid views of the Kandalama Lake and is ideal for an exquisite ceremony on the deck flanked by an elegant reception indoors.
If you’re hosting a traditional ‘Poruwa’ ceremony for a Sri Lankan wedding, I recommend that the Poruwa be placed on the outdoor wooden deck overlooking the panoramic view of the Kandalama Lake, surrounding Ritigala mountainscape and the Dambulla Cave Temple.
According to the staff members, the hall could accommodate up to 350 guests with a delectable buffet. Kathikawa also has its own entrance, car park and elevators and is over 3200 square feet and 17 feet height in size.
The Terrace
If you want to wed in style, I suggest you pick ‘The Terrace’ for a perfect intimate wedding. I’ve noticed the trend of ‘outdoor weddings’ is catching up in Sri Lanka and tying the knot on the terrace in front of your close family and friends would be the way to go.
Wedding Packages
To help you make your big day a memorable one, the hotel has put together an extensive list of services, facilities and menus.
