La Rambla has been know through the years for dishing out delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Initially located down Tickle Road, Borella (where the restaurant called home for four and a half years), they are now down Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia.

If you head down to the restaurant on a weekday afternoon the hustle and bustle of tuk tuks and vehicles passing you by on the street and the balmy Mount Lavinia ocean breeze creates the ideal atmosphere for the culinary journey you are about to partake in.

The Assorted Mini Soup Platter (Rs 600) is a lovely way to start off. The platter is ideal for two and serves up Seafood Chowder, Mushroom Cappuccino with Herbed Crackers and Cream of Chicken and Asparagus soup. Each soup was delicious in its own right while also complimenting the other.

The Quesadilla (Rs 480), Avocado Shrimp Bruschetta (Rs 600) and Tomato, Mushroom and Olive Bruschetta (Rs 500) were the starters we opted for. Stuffed with the perfect amount of melted cheese, chicken and green onions and accompanied with creamy guacamole and sour cream it is a filling and delicious treat.

Both types of Bruschetta were light and refreshing but the combination of perfectly cooked prawn and creamy avocado really hit the spot for us.

La Rambla dishes out a delicious Chicken Madeira (Rs 1,200). This is said to be their most popular chicken dish and it is not hard to understand why. Succulent chicken thighs are topped with fresh green beans, melted mozzarella and Mushroom Madeira sauce and accompanied with mashed potato.

The Assorted Seafood Platter (Rs 1,750) is also fantastic. The baked crab in this dish was so tasty while the prawns, calamari and fish were fresh. It comes with a side of mashed potato and buttered vegetables.

Another favourite at La Rambla is their Penne Pasta in Creamy Wine Sauce with Seafood Thermidor (Rs 1,000) – This creamy treat with perfectly cooked pasta and seafood is an absolute delight.

The best way to end your meal is the Assorted Mini Dessert Platter (Rs 650). It is ideal to share between two and includes Tiramisu, Crème Brûlée Parcels, a Brownie and Vanilla Ice Cream.

The restaurant also offers a variety of beverages which include coffees and teas as well as juices.
