Cookies & You bakes delicious chewy cookies, rustic cakes, a few desserts and even churros. The baker behind these lovely treats is Rukaiya Reeza (18). “I started this venture in September 2014. As I always liked to bake, I decided to experiment with cookie dough and came up with my own recipe plus there wasn’t anyone doing cookies at the time,” she explained adding that she went on to post photographs of her outcome on Instagram and got a good response. “Today most of my customers have become my friends and I really enjoy making these treats for them!”
Taste and Value for money – 5 stars
The reasonable prices are one of the best parts about Cookies & You. Her cookies (Rs 750 for 12) are chewy and come in various flavours. You must order a minimum of a dozen and you can pick and choose the flavours you like or even go with just one.
Among the cookies we tasted were Mint Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Chip (my personal favourite) and Dark Chocolate Chip. They were all so indulgent and dreamy and left me wanting more. The White Chocolate Chip has an extra butter flavour to it this coupled with the melted white chocolate makes it a fabulous cookie. The generous amount of chocolate chips in the other two cookies along with the chewy texture made for some really super cookies. Rukaiya also bakes an Extra Large Cookie with Ganache (Rs 600) which can be customised for any occasion.
Another among her delights are her Mini Cakes (Rs 200 each). Steering away from the usual cupcakes, they are so cute to look and taste amazing too. These too can be customised with any combination. We tasted vanilla mini cakes with a buttery chocolate cream frosting, topped with chocolate ganache. The cake was moist which is always a plus while the topping and filling was not overly sweet. Rukaiya says she does not take on orders for decorative cakes but does take orders for rustic cakes with simple toppings and fillings.
She creates a beautiful Lemon Tart (Rs 850 per portion) as well which is a butter biscuit base topped with a delightful, zesty and creamy lemon topping.
The cookies aside though, her Churros (Rs 1,500 for a box of 12-14) were fabulous. Light, airy and crisp served with a chocolate ganache, they are just straight out of a picture perfect food dream which will leave you wanting more and more. Don’t forget to call her 10 minutes in advance as she fries the churros just before you pick them up.
