A stalwart in the aviation industry for almost three decades, Krishan Perera who lives in the UK works as the Regional Airport Services Manager for Europe and Africa for Oman Air. His job has filled him with wanderlust. He loves reading, cooking, theatre, singing the college song of his alma mater S.Thomas' lustily and indulging in siestas over the weekend. He confesses to harbouring an intense dislike for grocery shopping and chores.
Why do you love travel?
Because it brings one's inner self to explore a completely different world of cultures, people and places.
Your favourite travel destination and why?
Munich. It's such a cosmopolitan city, with great people, fab food and best of all, the Bavarian beers!
What do you need for a perfect holiday?
Swimmers, T-shirts, flip flops and a credit card.
In which country have you felt most at home?
Washington, USA.
Most unusual souvenir you have brought home?
An Accubra hat and a boomerang in Australia.
Worst holiday or travel experience?
Split, Croatia - where we got kicked out whilst I was still in the shower. The landlady was nuts... I had to shave and brush my teeth on the road!
Best piece of travel advice?
Research, research and research before you travel. The best advice is on Trip Advisor. Check the reviews before booking a hotel or a restaurant.
Your top five travel destinations?
Bagan - Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Pitvice Lakes - Croatia, Oman and Munich - Germany.
What has travel taught you?
To be mindful of other cultures, people and places.
Which country did you taste the best ever cuisine?
Surprisingly, I loved the Bulgarian food.
Next travel destination?
Vietnam, Cambodia, Argentina or maybe the Serengeti. No idea wherever the wind blows... who knows?
