From Italy With Love – Ceylon Scooter Club

Piaggio based in Italy, in 1946 introduced and patented the scooter design and little did they know that this design would be world-renowned.

Suren Rodrigo and some of his buddying scooter boys have taken the initiative in forming the first scooter club in the country. Namely, the Ceylon Scooter Club, started with a group of 15-20 scooter boys with scooters ranging from the Piaggio Vespa, Innocenti Lambretta and the Bajaj Chetak, which was originally based on the Vespa Sprint.

The Ceylon Scooter Club brings together a group of people who have an ardent respect and love for classic scooters. CSC’s main aim is to spread awareness, help scooter enthusiasts in their restorations and to share ideas amongst them. Just like any other automotive club, they wish to expand their club and would invite all classic scooter owners to join. Not only would it be a past time for all the scooter owners but also would provide its members a learning experience with people who share the common love for these two wheelers. The first scooter meet up was held on the 22nd of June 2014 and the club is planning to have their first event which will be on the 13th of July, where they are getting set for a day trip.

The club will be maintaining a Facebook page, which will be open to scooter enthusiasts at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1510825939133418/ and anyone interested in joining this elite club, could call up Suren Rodrigo on
077-4950413.
