Fathema Huzaifa is the young lady behind B’s Delights which she has named after her daughter, Bathul. Her brownies are cakey and fudgy and come in a variety of toppings and flavours. Qualified in CIM she was also sent for a baking course by her mum and learned to like the subject. Her baking endeavours kicked off during this year’s month of fasting, she explains adding that orders really caught up at the time which encouraged her to continue, “I would not be able to balance my baking and mummy duties if not for the help I get from my mum and husband.” She has created all the recipes and says, “Once I get an idea I just go with it.”
Taste and Value for Money (3.5 stars)
Chewy brownies are what really hit the spot for me. And among the range of goodies what was best for me was B’s Chocolate Chip Cake (Rs 1,200 for 750g and Rs 2,100 for 1.3kg). Fathema is generous with nuts in this cake as it has cashew nuts in the cake itself as well as on the topping. The cake is dense and moist, just the way I like it.
Her brownies, even though there is a lot of variety, are a little too cakey for my liking but they are commendable especially in terms of variety and taste. She specialises in light and fudgy which she says are meant to be less heavy than normal brownies.
The Red Velvet Oreo stuffed Cream Cheese Brownie (Rs 150) and the Marbled Cream Cheese Brownie (Rs 125) were my picks. They were both denser and less cakey than the rest which made them delectable in my books.
We also tasted B’s Walnut Brownie (Rs 80) which is said to be her best seller. Even though this was cakey it was a neat brownie with lots of chocolate and the perfect amount of walnuts topped with chocolate ganache. She also does a decent Chocolate Chip and Almond Brownie (Rs 100) and Strawberry Brownie (Rs 100).
Note : The Brownies are priced per piece and you need to order a minimum of four pieces. Orders need to be placed at least two days in advance. You can pick an assorted pack of 8 or 12 pieces to try out the various brownies B’s Delights has on offer.
