Sri Lankan audiences in for an entertainment treat this August!
A cast and crew of more than 70 musicians and dancers from the UK bring Broadway to Colombo.
Sri Lankan audiences are in for a huge treat this August with Toccata Musical Productions UK visiting Sri Lanka as a part of their Asia Tour 2014. Comprising a cast and crew of more than 70 professional musicians and dancers, this is arguably one of the largest entertainment contingents ever to arrive on our shores.
The group consists of nine soloist singers, all of whom who perform in London’s famed West End theatre productions, a 11-piece band, including brass and string sections, a choir of more than 30 singers, and an accompanying dance-troupe of ten. They will be performing two types of shows on different days. The first show is a two-hour performance entitled The Best of West End & Broadway. As the name suggests, this show features a song-list from all those great musicals that audiences would be entirely familiar with! “Family Entertainment” at its very best and music that we Sri Lankans have totally grown up with!
The second show is no-less compulsory viewing and is entitled The Nostalgia Show. A two-hour performance as well, this show packs a serious punch with a song-list that will make local audiences leap out of their chairs to join in the fun! It features some of the biggest 60s, 70s and 80s hits by the greatest stars in pop, rock and country. Again, a fabulous array of music that we Sri Lankans would instantly recognise and relish! Giving all this great music the big-band and musical-theatre treatment is Toccata Musical Productions UK, who come together once every 12 to 18 months as an overseas touring ensemble. Their objective is to provide high-quality entertainment and previous tours have seen the group travel to the African continent and Asia. Each tour has attracted top-class professional performers from around the UK.
