In celebration of its 75th year, the Wendy Whatmore Academy presented 'Alice in Wonderland: The Musical' directed by Ruvin De Silva and produced by Monte and Wendy Holsinger at the Lionel Wendt.
Made up of a talented young cast from the academy, the kids flourished under the capable guidance of director Ruvin -and the enthusiasm and excitement of the young cast permeated the venue. A confident Daniella as Alice took on her pivotal role with gusto, her singing impeccable, supported by an equally talented group of youngsters who were confident and dedicated in their portrayals of various characters. Also worthy of mention was Dhehara who played the role of the Cheshire Cat, who's singing had the audience erupt into appreciative applause.
The costumes, props and the seamless scene changes were top notch, and the production as a whole was quite professional. The minor con was the lack of clarity from a few performers, whose lines were not very discernible. Nevertheless, the droves of young kids in the audience especially were thoroughly entertained.

Considering that it was a play by children for children, it was pretty well done. The kids seemed to enjoy it. Scene where the playing cards were falling over each other was the most entertaining.

Overall it was a good drama for the children. Choreography was really good and costumes were done in a contemporary style. Music and stage set up was excellent. The acting of the total cast was professional.

The play took me to my childhood and felt so stressless during that period of time. Everything was well organized including music, lineup, flow and etc. All in all, the kids were very talented and it was a great show.

It was a wonderful experience, it took me back to my childhood! "Alice in Wonderland " is generally seen as being a children's show but I was not disappointed in that regard as the cast and crew brought together a spectacle that could capture the imagination of anyone.

As a participant I feel really privileged to be a part of this drama. I learned many things such as blocking and it was a good experience altogether. The backstage crew was very nice and I should thank my academy, teachers and director for giving all the guidance.

I think there was a lot of hard work that eventually made it a success. They have been practicing since June and Ruvin and Tracy has given in their fullest to make it a reality. I am proud of Wendy Whatmore Academy and I would like to specially thank Aunty Wendy for the time and effort that she has put in to make this play a success and the academy come through a long journey.
