Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2014 training: Day 2 and 3

The second and third days of training for the contestants went well as our top ten girls attended a workshop by Loretta Gunewardena who is a corporate trainer, mentor and coach on the importance of handling stage fright and being able to communicate better. The girls also attended a workshop by Johann Peiris, where they learnt everything about hair, skin and make up.

We spoke to the girls about the workshops and this is what each of them had to say:

Avanti – Loretta was very precise and she taught us how to improve our confidence levels. Some people get stage fright and so we were given tips on how to keep calm. With Johann we learnt how to groom ourselves better and we also got tips on how to keep our skin and hair healthy.

Uddima – It was very helpful! We learnt a lot about life and how to carry ourselves in public. It was very informative. He taught us about how make up has changed overtime and we learnt so much about how there were natural ingredients for skin and hair apart from chemicals which I personally was unaware of. It was very helpful indeed.

Chamodi – Loretta taught us a lot about how to get over stage fear and how to speak to people. It was great.

Dulanjali – The course on how to handle guests with grace, sincerity and professionalism was concise and precise. Plus the tips on social etiquette are helpful. Johann taught us the quick fixes for some of the common beauty problems were really easy to follow and his advice on how to handle hair is much appreciated!

Indina – It was very helpful for all of us. We learnt so much about stage fear as well as beauty tips.

Tamara – I particularly loved Loretta’s workshop as it taught me a lot about self confidence and to be genuine. All in all I came to learn and I did which will carry me through. Johann’s workshop was very informative and educated us on how to look our best everywhere we go. I learnt to accessorise which I wasn’t very familiar with, which I’m grateful for.

Fiona – Loretta spoke to us girls about public speaking and stage presence. She gave us a few seemingly trivial tips on how to deal with stage fright which were so very valuable. Johann spent his time talking to us about how to mind ourselves from head to toe. This informative session covered fine points of hair, skin and fashion in which each of us picked up a tip or 2.

Deshini – It was wonderful and it helped us a lot.

Kalpani – We learnt so much from both of them and it was definitely a boost of confidence.

Dinesha - Loretta’s session was really useful because it’s very important to hold yourself with confidence. Her facts were on developing personality with professional behavior. Johann shared his knowledge to groom ourselves, maintain beauty which is also vital for a beauty queen.
