Founded by Tash, who previously owned the renowned Tosakanth's Roast Paan, this breakfast and brunch restaurant is a delightful addition to the culinary scene. Tash's hands-on and diligent approach ensures that the staff are familiar with flavours and consistently deliver exceptional food. So, let's dive into the highlights of The ‘Stache's menu.
To start the day off right, I ordered the Masala Tinkiri Tea. Priced at Rs. 500, this beverage impressed me with its perfect balance. The condensed milk delicately enhanced the flavour of the tea without overpowering it. The sweetness level was just right, not too sweet. However, I must admit that the masala could have been a bit stronger to give the tea an extra kick. Nevertheless, I would rate this tea a solid 7 out of 10.
Moving on to the main dishes, the Siam Ceylon (Chicken) was a standout choice. Priced at Rs. 2000, this dish delivered on multiple levels. The creamy and tasty Kiribath provided a comforting base, while the red curry added an explosion of incredible flavours. The chicken was perfectly fried, boasting a crispy exterior and tender meat inside. The combination of textures and flavours in this dish was a true delight. This was one of my favourites and I would highly recommend giving it a try.
Another notable item on the menu is the Ceylon Turkish Eggs, priced at Rs. 1900. This dish offers a tantalizing combination of poached eggs and tangy yoghurt sauce. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, with the velvety yolk oozing out. The tangy yoghurt sauce provided a refreshing complement to the eggs. And let's not forget the delicious garlic butter toast paan that accompanied the dish, adding a delightful crunch.
For those seeking a vegetarian option, the Smokey Eggplant Super Bowl is a must-try. Priced at Rs. 1900, this dish is a symphony of flavours and textures. The ingredients, including the smoky eggplant, harmonize perfectly, creating a delightful medley of tastes. The zesty salsa verde added a refreshing twist and elevated the overall flavour profile. The dish was rich in texture, making every bite a pleasure. I typically wouldn’t go out of my way to pick a vegetarian dish, but with its impeccable combination of ingredients, the Smokey Eggplant Super Bowl is a dish I would definitely return to The ‘Stache for!
Lastly, no brunch experience is complete without pancakes, and the Pancakes Stache exceeded expectations. Priced at Rs. 2500, these fluffy pancakes were served warm, inviting a sense of comfort and indulgence. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, avoiding the common pitfall of being overwhelming. The texture was spot-on, and despite the fact that I’m not typically a fan of anything sweet, every bite left me craving more.
Beyond the delightful dishes, The ‘Stache's cute ambience adds an extra charm to the dining experience. The attention to detail in the decor creates a cosy and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the food.
In conclusion, The Stache is a brunch spot that should be on every food lover's radar. With Tash's diligent oversight and unwavering focus on flavours, The ‘Stache not only delivered exceptional food but also managed to pleasantly surprise me. Generally, I haven't come across a dining spot where I found all the dishes to be good, but The ‘Stache proved me wrong. Despite having my personal favourites, the establishment won me over with its consistently well-executed flavours. From the perfectly balanced Masala Tinkiri Tea to the flavourful Siam Ceylon (Chicken), every dish is a testament to the skill and passion of the kitchen staff. Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, The ‘Stache has options that will leave you satisfied. So, gather your brunch-loving friends and head over to The ‘Stache for a memorable dining experience.
