Subway Mount Lavinia : Reviewed

Subway, the international healthy food chain opened a new branch in Mount Lavinia (right opposite Odel). With lots of eateries that stretch alongside, Subway stands out as they serve healthy and delicious food with lots of choices. 

They let you place your order just the way you like it. First, you have to pick whether you want a salad, a sub or a wrap. Then, you have to pick your choice of bread which can be Wheat, Parmesan Oregano, Honey Oat etc. Then, the size which is either a 6 inch or a foot long. Then you pick your filling with extras if you want any. Then the veggies and sauce you want with your filling. I particularly love that option because I am not a fan of including tomato in my sandwiches. And they have a variety of fillings, veggies and sauces you can pick from. It sounds like a long process with a long list of options but the staff there are very friendly and will guide you with flavour combinations that marry well. 

Food And Value For Money - 4.5/5 

We tried their Smoked Chicken and Cheese Salad (Rs. 450) first. It was quite delicious with a generous serving of fresh veggies and dressing of your choice. We chose to have it with mayonnaise and chili and garlic sauce. 

We then tried two 6 inch submarines. The Turkey Submarine with Parmesan Oregano bread (Rs.590) and the Chicken Teriyaki Submarine (Rs.590) with the same type of bread. They tasted absolutely fantastic and were quite filling as well. 

If you are not a fan of bread they also serve wraps with the same fillings. We tried their Peri Peri Chicken Wrap (Rs.550) which was quite spicy and tasty! Sandwiches start from Rs. 350 upwards. 

You can also opt to have extra cheese or meat or egg for Rs.200 and below depending on if it’s a 6 inch sandwich or a foot long one. You have the option of buying Lays chips to accompany your meal as well. 

We also enjoyed mugs of Cappuccino and Milk Coffee. Both were priced at Rs. 180 each. They only serve fizzy beverages like Coke and Tropicana for a fruity choice. However there is an offer for the carbonated beverages where if you buy a cup you can refill it twice while you’re there. 

The cookies we had for dessert were absolutely delicious. Especially the White Macadamia Nut Cookie! They also serve Double Chocolate Cookies and Chocolate Choc Chip Cookies! 3 cookies of your choice are priced at Rs.280 and 6 cookies at Rs. 560. You can also buy 12 cookies for Rs. 1560. They are really yummy! 

Parking And Other Facilities - 3.5/5 

The only shortcoming was the space available for parking. You can only park 3 to 4 vehicles. But the manager assured us that they were working on getting extra space from the vicinity. The restaurant itself has a lot of space and the interior is appealing. You can also rent the upstairs for birthday parties, anniversary celebrations or any small functions.  While you are allowed to bring a cake from outside you also have to do the decorations yourself and they do not allow any DJ or live music as it will disturb the customers dining downstairs, which is fair. 

Subway Mount Lavinia is open from 7:00AM to 11:00PM from Monday to Wednesday and 7:00AM to 12 midnight from Thursday to Sunday.
