S.B.S.Surendran, Accredited Master Feng Shui Consultant, Bioenergetician and Traditional Vaastu Practitioner conducted a free seminar for Daily Mirror Life readers on February 7, 2016 at the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Automobile Association. 

The following comments were given to Daily Mirror Life by some of the participants. 

Rajini de Silva Mendis 

I am a Chartered Architect. Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese Science just as Vaasthu Shastra , the Hindu Science of Architecture dealing with the principles of Design, Layout, Spatial arrangement and Spatial Geometry among others. It is the accumulation of knowledge of thousands of years. We have to be aware and acknowledge the Energy of the Universe which affects our very existence and therefore of course our daily life. It was very interesting to note in the talk that most of what was presented in relation to planning and placement in the built environment overlapped or matched with good Design principles in Architecture that provides for proper ventilation and efficient circulation patterns etc. Given the high interest and awareness of people, we find as architects that there is a certain amount of helplessness driven into people who find themselves not being able to abide by the ideals of Feng Shui or Vaasthu as they do not have the option of demolishing their present built environment. In such an instance, Sunday’s talk was a breath of fresh air, a sincere sharing of practical tips when building on limited space to improve the environment around us with intelligence and creativity to absorb the positive energies of abundance.

The talk was very very informative. It was wonderful. I loved the topic. I don’t know the subject but I want to try out his suggestions. For instance, he said to hang pictures. Then he said we could use three Bamboo shoots, putting the stems in a vase not for luck but to protect from robbery. I also want to try out the signs on the animals in the Zodiac signs. His explanation was lovely. The colours and directions of your home were good. He went in to details and he was very patient and very obliging. This is my first experience of Feng Shui and I want to try out what he said. 

Ranjith Wickramasinghe 

It was my first experience of Feng Shui. He was very impressive. He talked on Metaphysics.  He looked genuine and was knowledgeable in the subject. It was a two hour lecture for which he did not charge and nor were we compelled to buy anything. He gave his contact address.  He emphasized how to reorganize the existing place without breaking walls or windows. He did not refer to ‘hooniyang’ but was simple, straightforward and helpful. He demonstrated  magnetic  lines in the existing space and no-one in the audience knew till then. I’ll try out some of his suggestions.
