SNOG opened its doors to curious Sri Lankans on February 3 this year and all the products on offer are imported – the frozen yoghurt from the United States, slush from the United Kingdom while the various toppings to go with the frozen yoghurt are imported as well. They have around 14 flavours of froyo at the moment but these along with the slushies change on and off in the course of the month.
Taste and value for money – 3.5 stars
The interesting aspect about SNOG is that it is self service so you choose your cup (small or large) then serve the froyo, sprinkle on the toppings you like, get it weighed, pay for it (Rs 2 per gram)and enjoy! The best part about froyo is that it is non-fat and they do not use sugar as a sweetener while SNOG froyo is also gluten free.
We tried out the following flavours, Pineapple, Coffee, Hazelnut, Pistachio, Banana, Strawberry, Dutch Chocolate and Birthday Cake. They were all delicious but the coffee, hazelnut, pistachio and birthday cake were my favourites.
I opted for gummies, bits of cookies and pieces of chocolate as toppings which actually worked out well with the froyo. The Dutch Chocolate froyo however tasted a bit synthetic and not chocolaty in the least.
The slush too is self service in that you pick a cup, serve and pay – there is no weighing involved here. The slush comes in three flavours at the moment, that of, Blueberry, Bubblegum and Strawberry (Rs 150 each). I quite liked the Blueberry slush which was just perfect on a really hot Sunday while the Strawberry slush was a bit too sweet for my liking and had an artificial after taste. Remember to mix your slush well so you are not left with an overdose of syrup at the end!
Parking – 5 stars
There are four parking slots allotted to the outlet. The parking bay on the street is also available while the Mothercare parking lot allows SNOG customers to park there once their operations have closed for the day.
Friendly staff – 5 stars
The staff are polite and friendly.
Toilets – 0.5 stars
The toilets are sadly not clean.
