The Do's and Don'ts of a Luxury Wedding
As a specialist in all things luxury weddings, Prasadhi Perera tells us about all the things you should do and all the things you should avoid when planning your own luxury wedding.
DO’S
Do hire a right wedding planner for you - Couples who want luxury weddings are usually striving for perfection, and therefore require lot of time invested in planning. When looking for a wedding planner it is important that you hire a skillful, trustworthy and experienced wedding planner. It is also important that the couples lifestyle matches with their planner and that the couple’s personal choices are not only understood, but shared.
Do customize every piece of your wedding - For an example rather than using the place settings provided by the venue, a luxury wedding should feature customized tablecloths, napkins, sashes etc.
Do create a timeline or checklist for your wedding - There are many details which need to be considered when planning a wedding. Therefore the couple need to carefully plan out a time line to cater their needs, for both the lead-up and for the day itself.
Do watch out for trends - Trends can be gorgeous, as long as they mean something to you. The thing you need to be careful with trends is that whether it is just a fad? Is it something you’ll want to look back in twenty to thirty years from now, and show it to your children? When they ask about it, you don’t want to say, ‘Oh, it was just a trend back then’. If it’s personal and it’s important to you, then go for it!
DON’TS
Don’t forget to take a week (or two!) off - If you’re planning your own wedding, don’t schedule anything to do in the last week. It is important that you complete meetings with all the suppliers a week prior to the wedding so that you can be reassured that anything you possibly could have done, is done.
Don’t sweat the small stuff - Be prepared for some things to go wrong. Accept the fact that if any element is not perfect, the likelihood is that the only person who’s going to notice is you.
Don’t get carried away - It’s easy to get carried away with all the fun aspects of wedding planning spending hours browsing for the style of your wedding. However do remember not to incorporate too many styles in to your wedding as it is important the guests feel the mood that you wish to set on the day.
Don’t forget to look after your suppliers - For example your photographer and videographer will be working on your wedding day for eight hours or more. Therefore it is important that they have been provided with a table and meals so that they will be able to do a much better job.
