At the upstairs location in the Arcade Clock Tower, we get a very warm welcome, despite this being our first visit. Seven of us sit around a long table, I really prefer round tables so you can talk to everybody. The decor is classic Sri Lankan furniture in a stylish finish.
The welcome drink is small but amazing and there are two free starting tasters. Fantastic flavours. They say they are different every night.
Our group has a golden rule, one person takes recommendations from all then makes the order decision. Additions can be made after we have had the main course. The order is placed and we will all share a series of different dishes. It is a system that’s been used for two years. So we have five classic starters followed by five main courses. These include crab curry, pineapple rice, spring rolls, noodles, and satay banana flower, all great dishes / flavours.
The staff are super quick and service can’t be faulted. We get to the desert with the sticky rice and mangos. The jury is still out on this dish.
The restaurant permits BYO and we are all wine lovers, sharing our favourites and latest import. This is a very reasonably priced restaurant considering its great food quality and service.
So whilst we briefly chat on our next night out as the food group and where we go, all agree we will be coming back to Mays soon.
