Especially when so many areas and roads have multiple restaurants almost next door to each other! So we tried out something different. We lunched down 5 different cafes and restaurants down Jawatta Road.
We first went to Sushi Kai to have our entrees.
We ordered a Gyoza Chicken (Rs. 550) and Miso Seafood Soup (Rs. 620). The dumpling was steamed a little too much thus soggy and sticky and the soup was too salty for my palate. But it was a good start to our meal as it really did awaken our tastebuds.
We also ordered two beverages, which were the Kai Glass (Rs. 350) and a Chocolate Milkshake (Rs. 350). The milkshake was not too bad but it was the Kai Glass that stole the show! It was a delicious blend of ginger and lemongrass and I would definitely go back for it. The restaurant although very small is also situated in a bend, so if you like to watch traffic drive by this is the place to be.
For our main course we went to Isso, a place I have been waiting to visit for some time. It’s a fun and cozy place that lets you customize your order.
First, you have to pick the size of your prawn followed by the way you want it to be prepared and finally the sides. We ordered two portions of large prawns, one of which was done to a Northern Twist (Rs. 900) served with sticky rice and the other a Home Made Secret (Rs. 900) with roast garlic bread. Every dish is also served with a salad. The roast garlic bread was absolutely delicious and we ended up having it with the Northern Twist prawns that we absolutely loved! They also served us with a delicious sugar-free drink, which was a tasty blend of watermelon, cucumber and lime. Served chilled it was refreshing and most welcome.
I do love sweet things so we ended up having dessert at two places. The first place we went to was Skrumptious, a place that serves chocolate heaven on a plate.
We ordered a Mint Swirl Brownie (Rs. 550) and a Supreme Chocolate Mousse (Rs. 650). Being a big fan of mint I absolutely loved the brownie! The mousse was equally tasty served with strawberries but I really enjoyed the brownie! Skrumptious has now moved to a bigger space just a few blocks away from where they used to be. The interior is beautiful and inviting and the service is the quickest we experienced throughout our meal.
You can’t dine down Jawatta and not make a stop at The Cakery! They too have now moved to a bigger space right next door to where they used to be. They now have a library and a kids’ play area. Their menu now has a variety of dishes including mains.
We were quite stuffed but who doesn’t have some space for cake? We ordered a White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake (Rs. 520), a Strawberry Victoria Sandwich (Rs. 240) and a slice of the Baked Chocolate Tart (Rs. 380). The cheesecake definitely stole the show! It was an absolutely delicious combination and something I will go back for! The chocolate tart was also yummy but the Victoria Sandwich was a little too sweet for me.
Our final stop was Java Lounge to have coffee or so we thought.
We ended up ordering a Java Signature Hot Chocolate (Rs. 540) and an Ice Caramel Macchiato (Rs. 520). The hot chocolate was one of the best I have had. On the other hand we didn’t really like the Macchiato, because once it was mixed we couldn’t really taste the caramel. But it was the perfect place to end our meal. We were stuffed by then and the dimly lit cozy atmosphere with the comfy couches really did the trick.
You must now be wondering how we managed to eat so much of food for just one meal! It took quite a long time and walking from one place to the other really helped. This may not be the ideal way to dine if you are in a hurry. But if you are planning to catch up with some friends or have a fun date this is the way to go! We had so much of fun and the different cuisines and tastes really added to our experience. Do try it out sometime and let us know how it goes!
