views 899We decided to check out the Gourmet Burger Promotion which is currently on at the Sugar Bistro and Wine Bar and will span the entirety of July, and we weren't disappointed. The burgers that packed a punch, hearty portion sizes and the excellent service won us over.
The Gourmet Burger Promotion features 12 new burgers which will be available the whole of this month in addition to their regular burgers on offer. In keeping with the American theme, the names of the burgers as well as the flavours were quintessentially American.
We picked the The New Yorker and the Farmer John with a fresh watermelon juice to go with it. The juice was just right with enough sweetness which ensured that the drink wasn't too underwhelming or overwhelming.
The New Yorker (Rs. 1100/++) was made up of a crusty Italian bun with a beef/chicken patty, mozzarella cheese, sauteed button mushrooms and onions, pizza sauce, and lettuce. We chose the chunky chips - which wasn't that chunky, truth be told - as a side. The burger was packed with flavour and texture with the sauteed mushrooms and onions adding complementing the zing of the pizza sauce perfectly. The portion sizes were generous.
The Farmer John (Rs. 1100/++) on the other hand was French toast with a beef/chicken patty, cheddar cheese, potato rösti, tomato sauce, aioli and was topped with onion rings. We absolutely loved this unconventional burger, if we may call it that. The addition of the crispy potato rösti did wonders, and paired with the chicken patty and the aioli, worked quite well. The onion rings were batter fried to perfection and not only added texture, but tasted great on its own.
The Cuban, The Highway Man, The Brooklyn, Macho Nacho, The Couch Potato, The Atlanta, The Denver, The Hawaiian, The New Orleans and The Tennesse round up the gourmet burgers on offer. The burgers incorporate not only American but also Mexican elements (Macho Nacho), encompassing the cosmopolitan nature and influence of flavours.
We also tried out the Lemongrass Panna Cotta with Lychee Crumble (Rs. 475/-) and the Old Fashioned Warm Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream (Rs. 550/-). The panna cotta had a subtle lemongrass flavour which allowed the lychee and crumble to complement it. The warm brownie paired with the ice cream was heavenly.
Sugar Bistro and Wine Bar has been pretty consistent in serving up good food, and certainly didn't disappoint this time around either. Their service too is exceptional; the staff are very attentive, friendly and helpful.
Don't miss out! The promotion is on this July from midday to midnight.
