Having been open for just a few months, Crunch’s menu primarily features simple dishes such as burgers, sandwiches, submarines, waffles, crepes, and rice, noodles and pastas, and milkshakes.
A concept surrounding around three family members Sonali, Sushan and Reshan, Crunch brings its own unique flavour to the items on the menu. Sitting down for a chat with Sonali Sureshchandra, the Food Factor learns that the café was born out of one of her two passions in life – fashion and food! “I have always wanted to open a little café, specializing in sweet and savoury waffles, and while Crunch offers that, we have included several other items to the menu, where people can just drop by for a quick snack or takeaway,” she explained.
Choosing a chicken and cheese burger off the menu, I find it quite delicious and almost like something you’d expect out of your own kitchen. The burger features a toasted bun stuffed with a fried chicken filling cooked by Sonali herself, and cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cucumber, and a spread of mayonnaise and mustard.
The waffle with chocolate sauce is warm and comforting, and makes a great snack or if you’d like something sweet. The chocolate sauce is rich and chocolaty, and paired with the warm, crunchy waffle is a must try at Crunch.
Milkshakes are available in three flavours, that of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Thick, creamy and ice cold, the milkshakes make a perfect accompaniment to your meal, and are pretty filling too.
Crunch is also planning to offer an office package and a children’s party package very soon for small scale gatherings, said Sonali.
Crunch is open from Monday to Saturday, from 12pm – 8.30pm. They are located at 23, Templars, Road, Mount Lavinia. For inquiries or information, please call on 0755792792.
