Batman V Superman : Dawn of Justice

Rating-  5/5

Give me a chance to begin off to say, everyone has their own opinion, and you ought to respect them.

The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world, the most anticipated, most contested superhero movie of the year. Such a movie that has been causing hype for around 3 years received mixed reviews from many, but the critics have really slammed the movie, in an unnecessary way.

This is my thought on the movie. Remember: SPOILERS!

Firstly, I’d like to say that I loved the movie as a comic book fan, which doesn’t mean I’ll be taking sides. I will base this review off an unbiased opinion.

The first half of the movie was dead slow, and the transitions made it confusing to catch up with the storyline they were going with, it felt like they had to cram Bruce Wayne’s life as quickly as possible, but then again it was a very minor issue.

I also want to make it clear that this movie is killer on the feels, and I’m not even joking. The relationship between Clark and Lois has heated up a lot since Man of Steel, they’re more of a couple now, and Lois supporting Clark emotionally who is dying with grief knowing that the lives he saved in Man of Steel is too small in comparison to the lives lost.

You’ll also be seeing Bruce getting emotional, in a very weird dark way, as Superman is supposedly the cause of all the deaths, Batman immediately declares war on Superman. Not to mention that Bruce Wayne is crushing on Diana Prince, AKA Wonder Woman.

Let’s dive into the other characters, shall we.

Lex Luthor played by Jesse Eisenberg was extraordinary; he started out as a funny, silly billionaire inheriting his father’s empire descending to downright darkness. In an interview Jesse Eisenberg stated that he gathered inspiration from Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s role in Darr to play Lex Luthor, and if you observe you might be able to catch a glimpse of it. He truly goes from his young quirky self to the bald and evil self we all want to see, and this transition is on point.

Ben Affleck, who was highly criticized at first for being cast as the new cape crusader, grappled his way to the top as the best Batman ever. PERIOD. He actually was scary. Around the beginning, when Batman appears, he scares the hell out of the officer, who took multiple shotgun shots and missed all of them while Batman watched him from above like a bat. He nailed Bruce Wayne, it’s like he’s a natural at playing the billionaire badass.

Henry Cavill’s performance as Superman was way better than Man of Steel, he did a job well done, and this time there were real emotions, with Superman fighting himself causing self doubt, if he’s really good or evil.

Gal Gadot's performance as Wonder Woman and Diana Prince stole the show, and she left everyone's heart throbbing. She even won over Bruce, as he got a crush on her! She just dismisses him, like a boss. Her entrance as Wonder Woman was amazing, once again surprising Bats again. She just saves him and continues to fight like the badass she is. She even ties up Doomsday in the fight and holds him back. She truly delivered more than expected.

Amy Adams as Lois Lane was almost the same but with an overflow of emotions, she also did play a role in helping our heroes fight, kudos to that.

The cameos of the other heroes, OH THE CAMEOS. I literally died. Flash had two, the one in Bruce's dream was amazing, he told Bruce he was right and that he was warning him for the future, which just sparks even more great theories and such. His second was in the drive that Diana looked at, where he stops a robbery in a second which is really cool. Aquaman came up as very badass, coming out of the dark water to be holding his trident, looking at you, then to throw it was just amazing, truly beautiful, like his suit. Cyborg really did well, too. What was special was that it was his origin, not him. Which means he just became Cyborg, which can change up the whole game for the Justice League, being he is a rookie and all emotionally messed up? But the best out of all of them was the Flash's cameo in Batman's dream. The Justice League was simply set up in one movie, now that's amazing.

This movie is everything you have been expecting to see in a superhero movie, Lois' struggle to get her Clark back. Bruce trying to figure out what the hell is going on everywhere. Diana investigating the other heroes. Lex doing his mischievous actions in a very smart way.

Overall this movie is MINDBLOWING! The critics can say whatever they want to, being a Marvel fan, there are some things Marvel cannot replicate. DC Movies are unique, with a genius like Zack Snyder onboard there’s no way to go wrong. He’s the man with a plan, and he’s going to change the DCU forever. This movie is a must watch movie for all ages, please watch it.

Great movie. Even greater setup for the cinematic universe. Will make a fan excited for the upcoming slate of movies.

1. A comic book fan would thoroughly enjoy the movie.
2. People who have watched DC movies would somewhat get the movie.
3. People randomly walking in would understand nothing! grin emoticon.

You go ahead, see for yourself and then judge. What matters the most is whether you enjoy the movie or not. Let it be a critic or a fan, it doesn't matter. Just watch it and see.

Do not like the structure of the movie, it would make sense if the flow of the movie was adjusted! Quentin Tarantino does scene hopping WELL! Zack, not so much!

Chamal Jayasekara

Zack Snyder failed us.

Sukhitha Jayathilake

It could improve in the structure, the pacing of the story and with the editing. But delivers an experience which will satisfy most at the end of the day. Certainly builds the anticipation for the upcoming movies of the same universe, but with a wish that they would become better.

Sohan Gunaratne

Didn’t like Man Of Steel but BvS.. Zack Snyder blew my head off with this.. It's not the perfect comic book movie but its interpretation of the glorious Wonder Woman and the most brutal Batman is awesome enough to stand on its own!
