We came across Baker in Heels while we were randomly scrolling through instagram and one of her delectable looking cakes caught our eye. So of course, we had to give it a try.

The self-taught lady behind Baker in Heels is Ishara Nouman, who’s currently “juggling a 9-5 job” and a “passion for baking”. Ishara has always had a sweet tooth “ever since she could remember”, she reminisces. Armed with a love for baking, Ishara started off assisting her mom - who she adds is an excellent cook - eventually discovering she had a talent for baking.

So where did it all begin?

“I took this passion very seriously after being inspired by my 21st birthday cake which was a beautiful fondant cake with delicate shoes placed on top,” she explained, adding that “this was in fact the true starting point of my journey as the Baker in Heels.”

We grabbed a few of her goodies that included her signature cake Death by Chocolate, and a Rainbow Cake; cupcakes - Baileys, Oreo Delight & Red Velvet as well as chocolate covered Oreos. “I like creating new flavours and creating my own recipes,” Ishara said, elaborating, “In terms of a favourite type of cake, it would be my signature Death by Chocolate cake and cupcakes.” And we couldn't agree more. The Death by Chocolate lived up to its hype and was our favourite of all. The rich, decadent icing with a perfectly balanced sweetness paired with a moist cake was a winner, and we couldn’t get enough! 

Her totally adorable Rainbow Cake was equally rich and creamy with a fluffy and light cake. While it was a little sweeter in comparison, it totally worked for the cake.

The cupcakes - Baileys, Oreo Delight and Red Velvet - were all yummy. The Baileys cupcake stood out and was very tasty, if not for being a little bit dry. But it was still our favourite of the 3 cupcakes that we tried. The distinctive flavours of the Red Velvet and Oreo Delight cupcakes were each equally good. The chocolate covered Oreos was - as its name implies - consisted of Oreos coated in chocolate, and it works.
