1400 km ride for 40000 wheelchairs
Around The Pearl, a ten-day charity bicycle ride kicked off this week with over 30 local and international riders embarking on a 1400 km bicycle ride around the Island to raise public support and funds for children living with cerebral palsy (CP). All proceeds from the initiative will be donated to the Cerebral Palsy Lanka Foundation (CPLF). Cyclists participating in the ‘Around the Pearl’ initiative this year include leading business professionals Ajith Fernando, Yasas Hewage, Sheran and Roshi Fernando and Sarinda Unamboowe.
The cyclists are set to travel the perimeter of the entire island and are currently in Kataragama, heading to Arugam Bay. The riders will take on Passikudah, Nilaveli, Kovil Junction, Jaffna, Maruchchukkaddi, Mannar, Chilaw and Negombo over the next few days before arriving in Colombo.
