The juniors as well as the seniors kept the crowd glued to their seats for two and a half hours, showcasing their talents in singing and dancing. The junior and senior choir sang a collection of hymns before they came to the climax of the evening where they sang hits from world renowned bands such as Abba, BeeGees and The Beatles and from movies such as The Sound of Music. As such the concert made the spectators go back in time with a collection of evergreen hits.
It wasn’t only an evening for singing and this was made clear when the students brightened the stage, dancing to the tunes of ‘Volare’ and ‘Bamboleo’, two evergreen hits by the Gipsy Kings. Two acapella groups also didn’t forget to show what they have got, mesmerizing the audience a little bit more, just for their own entertainment.
This concert was organised to mark the Extra Ordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy declared by Pope Francis. The choir was directed by Priyanthi Seneviratne VanDort who indeed has devoted her time to make the event a success. Proceeds from this project were dedicated for two causes; one, to open a fund for the minor staff and also to do a donation for the Congregation of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Sri Lanka.
