Situated at the Dutch Hospital in the Galle Fort, A Minute by Tuk Tuk dishes out some of the most delicious food in the Galle area. This hip restaurant started dishing out their quirky and delicious treats on October 11 last year and continues to satisfy their customers.
Taste and value for money – 5 stars
One of my favourites was the Pork Twist (Rs 490). This honey pineapple chilli pork with the perfect blend of lemongrass is such a yummy treat and ideal to start off with.
We opted for the Isso (Rs 850) as one of our mains which was a delightful Galle prawn curry served with traditional Sri Lankan Paan. The prawns were massive and so juicy while the gravy was the star of this dish.
Another yummy dish is the Confused Cowboy (Rs 900) which comes under the Burgers and Sandwiches section of the menu. It was like a pizza with a pita bread base, topped with a mouth watering chilli con carne and oodles of mozzarella.
Stuffed as we were, as always, there was room for dessert which was the slightly sweet but light Jaggernut (Rs 450). It was almost similar to a milky jelly made with jaggery and topped with mixed nuts.
Ambience – 5 stars
As much as the food is delightfully delicious, it is the setting that is really the best part about this place. The restaurant itself is cosy and laid back while the view of the stunning Indian Ocean on the edge of the Fort would mean you could spend hours here and not feel time pass you by.
Parking – 5 stars
There is plenty of parking.
