We all love some good gourmet sandwiches, whether it's on the go or just a chill session with your mates or when you're really hungry and craving for nothing but cheesy, gooey and crispy sandwiches.

We went around Colombo, (literally around Colombo, singing '80s retro hits and taking an enormous number of selfies - yes you must follow us on Instagram!), and here's a round up of Colombo's most yummiest and mouthwatering sandwiches!

1. Panino - Pol Sambol and Fried Egg

Panino, is probably a roast paan blessing to hit Colombo. It's tucked away safe and sound at the Cotton Collection premises. We tried the Sri Lankan twist of pol sambol, fried egg and cheese, and it completely won over our tastebuds. Who knew this trio would be amazingly good?

2. Barefoot Garden Café - Fresh Tuna Sandwich Wrap

The ambience was incredible, but we were incredibly disappointed with the service. The wrap was stuffed with very fresh tuna, and served with some sizzling salsa, this made for an amazing combination.

3. Sugar Bistro & Wine Bar - Crispy Chicken Baguette

Sugar Bistro was quite busy when we dropped in during lunch time and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The Crispy Chicken Baguette was interesting with fresh flavours bursting inside your mouth along with grilled apple! It was served with a portion of crispy golden wedges. Yum!

4. Barista - Tuna and Cucumber

We decided to go with the classic tuna sandwich and it certainly tasted like the tuna sandwich that's made fresh at home. Do grab one while you pop in for some good coffee!

5. The Sandwich Factory - Buffalo Chicken Melt

This place screams the '80s American retro. It's a definite spot for kids, with their spacious play area and for those who love a good splash of colour. The buffalo chicken melt was juicy and filled with tons of chicken! We loved it!

6. Paan Paan Sandwich Bar - Tandoori Chicken

You'll find this sandwich bar right up Queens Road and it's got a quite a range of subs and sandwiches for affordable prices! We quite enjoyed our Tandoori Chicken, which however would have been much better if there was a dash of cheese! Seating is limited so do keep a note of that.

7. Bubblelement - Chicken in Alfredo Panini

This gorgeous spot screams Tumblr and is totally Instagram-worthy. We decided to try out their oh-so-good Chicken Alfredo Panini and it was probably the best in town! Imagine pasta in bread, only it tastes way better than pasta! Pair it with some Lychee bubble tea and you're good to go.

8. The Commons - Prawn Masala Melt

Can we just say this was rather disappointing? We were bummed when the Prawn Masala Melt arrived and looked so dead in a fluorescent yellow plate. And expecting a thumbs up on flavour, it crushed our hopes on that regards too.

9. Black Cat Café - Chicken Quesadilla

A modern café that would attract the cat crazed lovers along with a pretty hot sandwich menu! The staff was nice and friendly, and the Chicken Quesadilla, was spot on! It was quite cheesy and juicy and went well with the potato wedges served.

10. Delifrance - Chicken Mayo Croissant

It was a busy spot inside the Odel department store and the croissant with chicken mayo was delicious! Although a little salty for our taste, the croissant was buttery and fantastic!

*Note : So we were approached by The Sandwich Factory, kindly asking us to clarify their rules and regulations for using the play gym, which is briefly featured in the video. Although one of our staff members is seen using the mat slide in the video, The Sandwich Factory has clear rules & regulations posted within the store stating that the play gym is only for children between 3 and 12 years of age! Although Panchali may look under 12 years of age, she wasn’t supposed to be using the slide wink
