Cantaloupe Aqua, a Private Hotel and Beach Club was recently featured in the UK’s Sunday Times Travel Magazine as one of the top 50 ‘Unbelievable Hotels Under £100’. Named among some of the top hotels around the world, Cantaloupe Aqua was the only Sri Lankan hotel to make it into the top 50.

The Sunday Times is the #1 paper read by 46% of all Sunday newspaper readers in the UK – which equals to 3.2 million people. Published by Times Newspapers Ltd, a subsidiary of News International, The Sunday Times is in turn owned by News Corporation.

In his editorial, The Sunday Times Travel Editor, Ed Grinby stated, "Not a single property made it on to those pages unless our reviewer gasped when they walked in; and every single one is a 'triple-checker' - a place offering such puzzlingly good value we had to call three times to make sure they hadn't made a mistake on their rates."

"We were the only Sri Lankan hotel to make it to the Sunday Times top 50 unbelievable hotels around the world under £100. This has further motivated Cantaloupe Villas to speed up its expansion drive and offer a niche product to the world tourism market. Our long term aim is to open up Sri Lanka to a new generation and niche of tourists not previously catered to by other hotel operators. This niche is defined as the ‘young at heart’ looking for a lifestyle oriented experience based on contemporary design, art, music and food," said Dmitri Jayasuriya, Founder/Chairman, Cantaloupe Aqua.

Tareeq Musafer, Cantaloupe Aqua’s Managing Director / Group CEO added, "As a trendy life style brand that’s unique in Sri Lanka, Cantaloupe Aqua has undoubtedly captured a unique demographic of tourists both internationally and locally. Winning the Agoda Gold Circle award and the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, earlier on this year, our team has achieved yet another milestone in a short span of time"

Cantaloupe Aqua is the first property under the Cantaloupe Villa portfolio. Defined, as a Private Hotel and Beach Club, it has created a new niche within the fashion lifestyle hospitality sector in Sri Lanka. The concept of the hotel is inspired by famous and trendy beach clubs around the world and is the only one of its kind in Sri Lanka.

Cantaloupe Aqua combines contemporary spaces, colourful décor, eclectic music and delicious food to create the ultimate ocean-front getaway. A distinguishing facet of the property is that it features a private beach in one of the island's most beautiful and undisturbed coastal strips - Talpe.

I thought private beaches are not allowed in Sri Lanka. The beach belongs to everybody in Sri Lanka.
