views 514The Startup Cook – Brown Sugar Cookies
There are certain recipes that cannot get any better. One of them is sugar cookies.
Usually when I make sugar cookies it is ALWAYS with white sugar. However having been deprived of the necessary amount, I resorted to using brown sugar. The results were absolutely delicious. Brown sugar has that innate nutty flavour that is just perfect. And unlike white sugar it tastes much less sweet. Hence if you are one of those who likes desserts less sweet, even if it is sugar cookies then STICK TO BROWN SUGAR COOKIES.
It is YUM.
Ingredients
1 cup of (all purpose) flour
½ cup + 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
6 tbs of butter
1 tsp of vanilla
¼ tsp of baking powder
1 egg
Directions
Preheat the oven to 175 Celsius. Prepare a baking sheet and set it aside.
In a large mixing bowl, Cream the butter and ½ cup of sugar until it becomes light and fluffy.
Then add the egg and vanilla to the mixture and whisk for a few seconds.
Add the flour and baking powder to it and whisk until all the ingredients have merged well together.
Place the two tablespoons of sugar in a separate bowl.
Then using your hands, make small balls of cookie dough, coat them in the sugar, place it on the prepared tray and flatten it a little.
Repeat the process until all the dough has been utilised.
Place the baking tray in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.
(Rotating once in between)
Disasters, Warnings and Tips
Ensure you keep an adequate amount of space between the cookies as they spread out when they bake.
I love eating these cookies warm.
A cup of sugar-less plain tea is the perfect pairing with this cookie.
