“My exam is round the corner and I am totally stressed out. What shall I do?” asked Priyan.
“Just switch off from your books and go for a swim. That will help clear your head.” advised Lionel, Paul’s teacher.
“But I have so much to study. How can I take time off like that?” protested Priyan.
“You have obviously crammed right to the top of your head and you cannot do any more. So now it is time to take a break and allow what you have studied to get digested in your brain.” said Lionel, adding, “Believe me. I have taught hundreds of students and I know when a student has crammed too much. There is a difference between studying in depth and just cramming facts and figures.”
“But there are only a few days left before the exam. I have to cram the maximum as it is now or never!” said Priyan.
“Then divide your time between work and play. Study a little and then go for a walk. I know a professor who makes pizza while studying. He says that cooking helps him strike a balance.” Said Lionel.
“Well, I will follow your advice and try to stop worrying about my exam.” said Priyan.
“That’s the way. Besides, worrying never helps and can even break your concentration.” said Lionel, adding, “After all, your brain can take in only so much so don’t waste time worrying.”
“I wish I had planned out my study programme incorporating both work and play. Then I won’t be under so much stress.” said Priyan.
“You must learn to study wisely and well. After all, it’s only an exam and your whole life is stretched before you.” concluded his teacher.
