(Lets face it kids are full of honesty, they say it as they see it. This is a new column written from the ‘HONEST’ observations from our children. It touches on all aspects of the process of growing up and how we as parents can improve ourselves from a child’s point of view).
Okay looks like we’re going on another trip, wasn’t the visit to the Big Match last weekend enough already?. C’mom I’m a homebody, when we have to go out of the house, Mum’s goes a bit nutty she dresses me up to the nines. I know I’m cute, I know she wants to show me off, but a bow tie and a bowler hat is a little extreme Mum. I feel like I’m heading for Broadway, going to do a big song and dance.
At the moment all I can do is the ‘Harlem Shake’, just managed to stand up on my own two feet and then I shake around trying to catch my balance. Dad says I’m an expert at the Harlem Shake, yeah we’re hommies Daddy and I, it’s the only dance he can do also. Seen him and Mum do the waltz…ouch I think she might have had a few toes amputated with those moves.
Anyways back to the situation at hand, Mum’s packing vigorous, this time’s she’s got some lacey, flowery pin strip outfit for me..yikes is it Gucci, did you ship it from Prada Mum…don’t want no Mothercare stuff, I only wear couture you know Pret-A-Porter. I try a feeble attempt at a cry to protest my situation, but the heat’s getting to me and the bliss of the air conditioning in the car is nothing to complain about.
Nicely cooling my prickly heat. Mum’s put so much powder on me that I feel like a Geisha doll. Anyways, wonder if we’re flying off somewhere what with another airport on the island, can catch a plane to anywhere in the world. Where are we going Mum, Japan since I look like a Geisha Doll, Paris to see the Eiffel Tower and eat croissants, London, always wanted to see the London Bridge since it always falling down in the nursery rhyme, you know “London Bridge is falling down, falling down, that Big Sister keeps singing over and over again, what about some Adele once in awhile or a bit of rap Big Sister, you be Biggie and I’ll be Babee we’ll be the new Beastie Boys! Hip Hop Hooray!!!!
Okay Mum says we’ve arrived. ‘Hooray here we are in Kotte kids!’ What no croissant?. This looks dubious.. its to be continued!!

Expert Advice – Developmental Milestone - Standing
During her first year, your baby is busy developing coordination and muscle strength in every part of her body. She'll learn to sit, roll over, and crawl before moving on to pulling up and standing at about 9 months. From then on, it's a matter of gaining confidence and balance.
Most babies take their first steps sometime between 9 and 12 months and are walking well by the time they're 14 or 15 months old. Don't worry if your child takes a little longer, though. Some perfectly normal children don't walk until they're 16 or 17 months old.
Expert Advice – Heat Rash
Heat rash, also known as "prickly heat" or "summer rash," is an eruption of little bumps (and sometimes tiny blisters) on the skin that can show up when your baby overheats. The bumps may appear red, especially on light skin. Children of all ages can get heat rash, but it's most common in babies. Start by cooling your baby off.
Loosen or remove his clothing, and move him into an airy room or a shady spot. You might place him on a cotton towel, which can help absorb his sweat. Apply cool, wet washcloths to the areas affected by the rash. Let him air dry rather than rubbing him with a towel. And don't use ointments or creams on the rash. These can make the rash worse by trapping moisture.
Expert Advice – Flying
Ideally, your baby should be at least 2 to 3 months old before he flies. This will give his immune system a chance to grow strong enough to resist the germs that often make the rounds in airplane ventilation systems. It also gives the two of you enough time to settle into a routine and master the art of breast- or bottle-feeding.
