It’s probably our least favourite place to clean in the house. And it somehow manages to be the messiest. I know most of you don’t enjoy having to clean your bathroom but well it’s not something we can avoid either.
I have watched my mother trying a hundred different products over the years. And then I stumbled upon Pinterest a couple of years ago and it changed my life! (And I am not being my usual dramatic self). It offers many easy organizational and cleaning hacks. It became my obsession.
These 10 bathroom cleaning hacks are indeed genius. And it will save you a load of money and takes little effort. Most of these products include what you will already have in your kitchen.
1. Simple Shower Cleaning
Use a dish washer to tackle the grime found in your shower. I recommend Vim! Well it’s the only one I have tried out and it works. In a bowl mix together some Vim with water and finally add around half a cup of vinegar. Put the mix on the floor and scrub! You can even do it while you are taking a shower. Hooray for multitasking.
2. Clean The Shower Head
If your shower head doesn’t seem to do more than dribble water, it may be time to clean the shower head! Fill a bag with vinegar and tie it around the shower head and keep it overnight. The vinegar will break down any hard water deposits.
3. Whiten Your Shower
Mix equal parts bleach and baking soda together with a little bit of water to form a paste. Smear it on any yellowing cracks in your shower. Let it sit overnight, and then rinse in the morning. The results are mindblowing!
4. Remove Hard Water Stains
Remove hard water stains off your fixtures by using a halved lemon. The acid in the lemon breaks down the hard water, and is easy on your hands! No harsh chemicals or gloves needed! This was truly something I was amazed by. I was never able to find a product that would get rid of those stains so easily!
5. Bathtub Scrub
Scrub your bathtub with a grapefruit dipped in salt. I know it’s difficult to find grapefruit here in Sri Lanka, so I tried with a lemon and it works just as well. The coarse salt mixed with the acid in the lemon will cut through all grime!
6. Prevent Rust Stains
Anyone who has ever purchased a can of shaving cream or leaves their deodorant in the bathroom has felt the frustration when lifting it to discover a ring of rust! Paint the bottom of the can with some nail polish to prevent rust from forming. Genius! Really, why I didn’t my brain think of it?
7. Hang A Spice Rack
Control the beauty product takeover with this awesome idea. Install a spice rack inside your bathroom! They are not as expensive as bathroom racks. This is the perfect size to store hairspray, perfume, and any other beauty products that are a necessity!
8. Paste A Magnetic Strip
Hang a magnetic strip behind cabinet doors, or on the inside of a drawer or even along the wall, but somewhere near your mirror. The magnet strips are a great place to store bobby pins, so you will always have them around when you need them. I have probably lost a hundred down the sink and shower drain.
9. Hydrogen Peroxide
This isn’t just for first aid anymore! Turn your bottle of peroxide into a spray bottle. Use it to clean tile grout. Let it sit for a couple of hours, and then scrub the grout with a toothbrush.
10. Clean Your Curtain
Clean shower curtain stains by throwing it in your washing machine. A run through an ordinary washing cycle will have your curtain looking like new! You don’t have to keep buying new ones.
