I am sure many of us will look back on the year that is coming to end and review it wondering on our achievements and failures and feel satisfied or otherwise about the year that would be completed soon.
I am very happy with the decisions I took this year. My ‘spice it up’ project was launched after 15 months in the making and is now well on its way, which I consider an achievement. Not having to work in a restaurant on a daily basis is another decision I am happy about since I am ecstatic about being able to once again cook some very fabulous meals for my clientele for their private functions.
A week with Kirby learning about Breathaniarism made me understand a lot of things, many of them delightful. The good fortune of getting rid of a few so-called friends added to the highlights of my year.
Parties as usual were many this year. Some of them leaving fond memories. Celebrating fashion guru’s 60 years in fashion and winding up the year with some great wedding celebrations are some.
Last week Prithi along with Ratna invited many of their friends to welcome her son Niroch and his newly wedded charming wife Nicole at the Kingsbury Hotel. Prithi is definitely in my top ten of glamorous women of Colombo and always a generous and gracious host.
The year also had some downs but with a lot of faith all turns out well and all in all it was a good year for me.
What awaits all of us in 2014 will be something else. My first plan is to stage my farewell show and hang up my high heels for good. It is all going to happen on February 15 at the Grand Ballroom of the Mt. Lavinia Hotel.
My Funny Valentine is the theme of the show and it will be all about love in my style. This year the show will stage some of our golden oldies and some of the current hottest in town. A lot of things are being planned and one is assured of a great evening of fun and laughter. Mark the date in your diary.
As usual there will only be a limited number of tickets and it is best to get your tickets as soon as they are out. The box plan will be available at Salon Kess from the second week of January. The show is in aid of students who face disadvantages and many great sponsors have already pledged their contributions.
For developments on this show read the Wijeya newspapers our generous media sponsors over the years. Beginning the year with this show will definitely cause a lot of excitement in my life.
Every year end always reminds me of the song “the perfect year” the lyrics of which begin with
"Bring out the old, bring in the new…"
Readers, I wish you all the best and loads of good health and lots of love and good things for the year 2014!
