views 2099It was one of those memorable large events to which Colombo Society’s who’s who had been invited. The event was celebrated with such lavish style, a rarity these days when five star hotels entertain. The event was to celebrate the new look of the Taj Samudra, referred to by the Hotel as Rewritten and the celebration was well worth it.
The renovations were extensive and very visible and I must say a magnificent improvement. All of it done by renowned designer, David Edwards from James Park Associates.
Commenting on the re-opening of the hotel, General Manager Rohit Khosla said “Sri Lanka, also known as the pearl of the Indian ocean, is one of the most prodigious countries in the world and that the recent investment in the Taj Samudra has enhanced its reputation as being widely appreciated for its peerless view of the Indian Ocean, wide ranging culinary offerings and unforgettable and unparalleled luxury experience.”
The hotel now offers varied dining experiences, serving both traditional and contemporary flavours. Influenced by Sri Lankan culture and traditions, the Lobby Lounge Lattice is an ideal meeting spot to catch up with family and friends while enjoying from a wide choice of coffees and fine Sri Lanka teas and a selection of wines in the evenings.
The all new ‘YUMI’ is the place for a vibrant soiree with a teppanyaki counter serving authentic Japanese marvels.
The skillful team of Indian chefs at the ‘Navratna’ restaurant has honed the art of blending the finest of spices and unique cooking techniques to bring together truly authentic Indian delights.
The Chinese specialty restaurant, ‘Golden Dragon’ offers a “Private Dining space” that can seat up to 12 persons. ‘Steak & Grill House’ the cozy fine dining restaurant serves the finest continental food complemented with an exquisite selection of wines.
The all-day dining multi-cuisine restaurant ‘Latitude’ offers an extensive spread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. ‘Pebbles’ the exciting new addition to Colombo’s lounges offers the facility to engage in a game of pool with friends while savoring an outstanding range of sweet and flavorful delicacies.
It was a great party with bubbly and cocktails and other sought after or desired beverages served in plenty and a choice of great food that was enjoyed by the invitees. It was certainly a night to remember and if what the guests sampled that evening was a hint of what it would serve in the future one can only expect the Taj Samudra to soar higher and higher.
Merry Christmas to all……
