Oh! Colombo
Accepting an invitation to a destination wedding, be it in any part of the country or overseas, requires a lot of packing and planning and an assurance of lots of fun relaxing for a couple of days hanging out with friends. Invited to a wedding in Nuwara Eliya was even better for me as I love the cold and the knowledge of being able to get into my glad rags and not sweat and be uncomfortable at the function.
Handling the logistics is big for the hosts and making sure of having the perfect wedding planner and caterer are the key points. If the wedding planner and caterer have a good rapport then it is like a marriage made in heaven. At this wedding it was the perfect combination. The event planner, Sonali Ratwatte, together with Cassim Basheer, the GM of the Mount Lavinia Hotel, who was responsible for all the food and beverage, did a perfect job. The venue was the Hill Club where wisely chosen area were set up to perfection and tasteful. The whole celebration went off perfectly, with no hiccups. This was very admirable as the logistics to get everything over to the location would certainly have been a difficult task. The staff were courteous and extended a splendid service to all the invitees. All of the guests would only have good memories of the fabulous evening of celebrations.
A destination wedding is a great opportunity for people to catch up, which does not happen in the city. It was wonderful spending hours over breakfast chit chatting and continuing to socialize with friends throughout the three days. Relaxing in the hills is what everyone did, enjoying the cool climate and celebrating in great style.
