Great plans have been made: 140 on the ramp and many more amazing things will be happening when Johann Peries celebrates the past 25 years of his life at the Colombo Hilton on the 22nd of this month. I remember when Johann started his career at Ramani Fernando’s Salon when she opened at the Hilton. An eager boy, absolutely focused on his ambitions, and always with a smile on his face. Twenty five years later he has made phenomenal progress and is now the Proprietor of two Salons in Colombo. Johann is very content with his life.
Apart from his hairdressing, he is well known for his dancing, singing and acting, all of which will form part of this celebration show, presented as an evolution of fashion and life, a story unraveled, narrated and unveiled and is scheduled to last one and a half hours.
On the 22nd Johann will also honouring many people who are very precious to him and who have been part of his journey. His parents, Ramani Fernando his mentor, Naomi who has been a great strength to him, Mary Anne David who trained him to sing, Kirby and Fiona and many others.
The show will be produced by Lou Ching Wong and Johann is absolutely touched by the support he has received from the beauty industry. Ten designers will be involved in the show, Chryss, Lou Ching, Yoland Aluvihare, Dharshi, Damith Michael Wijesuriya, Ruchira, Purnima, Dhammika and Channa and his dance troupe.
Many sponsors have come forward. The platinum sponsors are Rajah Jewelers and the rest are Wella, Sothy’s, Mosh, Airport Express, R&R, Leo Burnett, TNL, with the main media sponsor, Wijeya Group.
The funds raised from the show will be given to the Lanka Alzheimer’s Association to which he is closely linked.
Apart from all Johann’s talent, he is a kind, gentle and caring person and has a lot to give as a human being. Rare are these people and his success has not changed him. Hence he is loved by many and he is sure to have another great successful twenty five years. When I asked him what s next, he grinned and told me, I wish to go international and have already established some roots in the West. Lots of good luck from me Johann, I know you will make it.
As for those who have not purchased their tickets for this great event it is time you did, or else you will miss one of the greatest shows in this town.
