Heavy advertising is done through all available media with regard to the marketing of electrical appliances. The offers are so tempting and the showroom staff are very good in their marketing skills, especially about the after sales service provided by the Agency, that at times people leave the shop having purchased more than what was originally planned. Warranty cards are provided when the item is delivered and the delivery staff too are very skilled in marketing the virtues of the after sales service provided by the Agency.
When the appliance does not perform as promised and the friendly sales staff are contacted you are informed in a completely different tone of voice that complaints about breakdowns should be made to another number and the phone dropped. After being moved from pillar to post, you are finally informed that a repairman will be sent to your home once you have agreed to pay Rs. 2000.00 for the visit plus, if the item has to be removed from the premises, the cost of transport, and an estimated transport cost is also quoted to you over the telephone.
If at this stage the Agency is informed that the item is under warranty, rest assured that unless you have a tough lawyer to argue your case a replacement will not be forthcoming. The Agency makes it so difficult that most people decide to do away with the item and go looking for another Brand and Agency and pray that the purchased item will last for some time and if it does breakdown that the Agency lives up to its promises of an assured efficient aftersales service.
The after sales service in this country is appalling and quite unacceptable with absolutely no standards being met and all of us consumers have to suffer the consequence of the bad after sales service offered by almost all these companies.
