From the very first second Anura laid eyes on little Leah, he knew he wanted her in his life. And now three years later, they are the best of friends, always leaning on each other for unconditional love and support.

Owner: Anura
Age: 3 +
Breed: German Shepherd

- How did you find your pet?

She was the only female in my dad's GSD's litter. Even then, she was the most adorable of the lot and responded to me, even coming over and playing with me. So I picked her.

- What’s the story behind the name you've given?

I think it was very random. I was looking for a name for her and nothing seemed ‘right’, if you know what I mean. So one day, when I was in a mall, I heard someone talk about a Leah, and that name really caught my attention. I went home and called my little puppy Leah, and she cocked her head, kind of like in acknowledgement.

- What are meal times and bath times like?

We feed her three meals a day. And we bathe her either once or twice a week.

- What’s her favourite thing to do?

She loves to play. We have a neighboarding ground where kids come to play cricket. We take Leah also there to play and she fetches the cricket balls for the players.

- What’s the naughtiest thing she has done?

In the 3+ years we’ve had her she has done quite a few naughty things - like sitting on fellow pets who are smaller than her, eating shoes, eating stuff not meant to be eaten.

- How does she react when you return home?

She is always ecstatic when we come home. She is actually one of the main reasons I get home early - she makes me feel like the most important person to ever exist and that feeling is priceless.

- Does she do anything out of the ordinary that fascinates you?

She always takes my shoe to my mom when I get home and takes it off. Maybe it’s her way of letting my mom know I’m home. I have my own key to the house, so typically, no one knows I’m home until I go to them. So I guess this way is a lot more convenient for me.

- What’s the best thing about your pet?

Her patience with me! Even when she was a puppy, I used to bug her a lot, but she would never nip at me or bark at me. She will quietly walk away if it gets too much. I stopped annoying her though, but still it was great that she was so thoughtful.

- What was the most unforgettable moment you've shared with your pet?

It’s hard to pick one moment. There are many! If I were to choose, I would say all her milestones - the day she was born (I was there), the day she ate solids for the first time, the first time she responded to her name. The list goes on!
