Gananath Dasanayake together with En Route returns to the stage with “The Great American Song Book” on September 3, 2016 at the British School Auditorium from 8PM onwards. The concert's proceeds will be donated to Music Project Charity who are involved with harnessing music talents of children in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

The stage will be brought to life with jazz standard music from the 1940’s and 50’s. The playlist will include many popular standards like Frank Sinatra’s 1966 Grammy award - winning ‘Strangers in the Night’, Dean Martin’s ‘Almost Like Being In Love’, Jerome Kern’s Classic “Ol’ man River”, Bobby Darin's smash hit ‘Mack The Knife’ and lots more.

It is time to meet the musicians behind this greatly anticipated concert!

Gananath Dasanayake

From the day his father recorded him singing ‘Hello Dolly’ onto a tape, a song which he sang for a montessori concert as a four year old; his dream was to be a singer. Then, the dream transformed to singing in a jazz band. Now it is beginning to materialize! His first encounter with the alto sax was when he started playing it in the college Western band. Now after 6 years of regular weekly work in the music industry, he believes that his musical ventures are to take a different turn, and that is the birth of ‘En Route’.

Maxwell Petersz

The bassist of En Route, he has been part of the music industry for more than 35 years. He is a well known musician and will be playing a stand up acoustic bass. What is even more impressive is that he makes them on his own! He does everything from manufacturing to the carpentry and attaching the strings. He has made 3 of them already and will be playing one of them at the concert. He is one of the only bassists in Colombo who plays a stand up bass guitar.

Niroshan De Silva

Niroshan has been part of the industry for more than 10 years but playing commercially. He is now slowly moving out of it because he wants to play more challenging gigs and together with Gananath he founded the band. They play old school, string and Latin jazz. Professionally he is a banker but music is his passion!

Debbie Arnolda

The daughter of Bobby Arnolda she is the keyboardist in the band. She too has been part of the industry for 25 years. She has accompanied many famous musicians in the past including Kiethan Carter from Chicago who performed in Sri Lanka. She then joined En Route on their quest to become an established band who celebrates jazz here in Sri Lanka.

Ramesh Nonis

He is the most recent member who joined in with the band and plays the guitar. He has performed with Harsha Makalanda at many gigs including the International Jazz Day event. Previously he was a part of Cardinals Outburst and Phase 3, popular commercial bands in Sri Lanka. After a break from music he returned to the stage by joining in with En Route.

Philip Seneviratne will be teaming up with En Route at this concert. He is an excellent and famous pianist too.
