Who - Nigel Barker and family 

Last week I had the honour of meeting Nigel Barker who was brought down by Cinnamon Hotels and his family, at Fouzul Hameed's special cocktail. Nigel Barker is a celebrated reality TV show personality, noted fashion photographer, author, spokesperson, filmmaker, and former model. He is best known for his participation as a judge and photographer on the reality show "America's Next Top Model", and is now the host of reality show "The Face" alongside Naomi Campbell.

Speaking to me on a WTF chat, he says “Sri Lanka has been great and has been amazing to come here with Mom and enjoy family time, and Sri Lanka is on its way to being a fashion hub!” This fun loving man has an amazing command when he speaks. And looked dapper and tall in an FH original which was designed for him by Fouzul himself for the night.

While he kept himself busy, I chatted with his mom, who is also a former beauty queen,  Mrs. Gillian Barker. An amazing person with such a great spirit you can fall in love with her charm, and in her very trendy kaftan she goes to say “I’m the one who sent his photographs, he did not even know about it, and I'm proud to see all what he has achieved today!”

And then I met his gorgeous wife, who was put together perfectly in an INDI designer sari. Cristen Barker said “It's amazing to be married to this good looking man,” and she said it with total contentment – their kids kept it to the same designers that night with Jack dressed in FH and Jasmine in INDI to match Mom and Dad.

His book “Models of Influence” speaks about 50 of the most influential models from the 1940s to today through a wealth of full colour photographs from the world's most renowned fashion photographers and feature the stories and images of women who made their mark. It's a high fashion book with class, and I'm happy to own a personally autographed edition of it.

It was a good night with selfies and good times with a fashion guru who has Sri Lankan blood.
