What made you start ‘Cattleya Leisure’? 

 

It has been a teenage dream of mine to run my own company. Growing up in a family that has consistently been involved with the hospitality industry for two generations, I too wanted to be a part of it. Having the love to travel and enjoy various aspects of the leisure industry, I decided to open my very own to realise my dream.

 

 

What was the thinking behind the name? 

I have always been fascinated by the  orchid flower. Cattleya is a special kind of a rare orchid that is simply rich and beautiful and certainly exceptional.

Why didn’t you want to make it big in singing?

Being a singer has been one of my dreams. Winning TNL Onstage at such an early age as 16 made me want to continue in making myself a name. Participating at the X-Factor in the UK opened many doors for me to pursue the dream. However due to my not being a citizen in the UK, my dream was abruptly cut short which made me realize that I can pursue other dreams and goals while continuing to sing whenever an opportunity arose.

Your Family?

My dad keerthi Fernando is the Chairman of K.S.Hurricane Entertainment Private Ltd. He is also famous for his singing talents, today known as a legendary rocker in Sri Lanka who has won Golden Cleff awards in the early 90’s consecutively as the ‘Best Rock Singer and his bands ‘Rattlesnake’ and ‘Venom’ won the award for the ‘Best Band’. Not to mention him being the brains behind the project ‘The Den’ Restaurant and Café - the first hard rock café concept bar and restaurant in Colombo. 

My Mom is the Directress of K.S.Hurricane Entertainment Private Ltd and is also an extraordinary artist. 

My sibling Prabodhya Fernando was the1st runner up of TNL onstage 2012 and is currently studying for a degree in Business Management at ANC. Younger brother Randika, is studying at Colombo International School. 

 

 

Biggest achievement?

Starting of Cattleya Leisure and Bringing ‘Cattleya Villa’ to life.

I wouldn’t trade lives with anyone, as I’m content with myself.

If you could get yourself anything what would you get? 

I have a big list if I were to narrow it down I suppose I’d get myself a good vacation somewhere in the Caribbean for the moment.

I must admit that all three of them have a unique sense of style. In my opinion they’re all well dressed.

Apart from oxygen, food and water it is ‘Family’ ‘Friends’ and ‘Love’ that is much needed.

I’ve had quite a few, my close friends certainly know them all. I can’t pick one in particular. 

 

 

What do you like to do for fun? 

Spend quality time with good friends and catching up through Shopping, Food and a Trip is always fun.
