What made you enter photography?
Photography was my childhood hobby and knowing that you could earn from what you love to do made me enter into commercial photography.
Do you think, anyone can be a photographer?
Yes, anybody could be a photographer but what makes you a professional photographer is always thinking out of the box and knowing your angles. Especially having a good taste of matching things into place in one frame.
What are your thoughts on the competition in this field today?
Competition is always good. It makes us photographers do more and more creative work to keep up with our competitors.
Among the gadgets that you own, is there something that you wish you hadn’t bought? Why?
Well pretty much everything comes in handy when you’re in the field shooting. I cannot think of anything useless in my list of gear.
What values are you committed to?
The one and only value I always believed in was that “necessity is the mother of invention”.
What dreams and goals inspired you to succeed?
I always have the dream of becoming a really good fashion photographer in Sri Lanka or maybe in Asia.
Do you need a pretty face to make a nice pic, or is it in the photographer’s hand?
If you’re a good photographer you should be able to make any individual look great.
Tell me about your fitness routine?
I go to the gym 3 days per week and do intense cardio at least twice a week. Always try to have a healthy balanced diet.
What’s your fashion statement?
I like to dress up according to the occasion and always in subtle elegant outfits. Very much in love with Italian and French fashion for men.
What is one career you would love to enter?
Motorsports
What is the one thing you want to experience before you die?
I would love to one day see my work on Vogue.
How do you educate yourself to take better pictures?
I spend at least 2 hours every day to do research on the web about latest trends in fashion photography/ new lighting techniques and latest fashion trends. I always find fault in my work and I’m never satisfied. I guess it makes me reach perfection.
Among your works, which one is your favourite? Why?
The shoot I did for FTV (Fashion TV) models from France. It was a great experience for me to work with them. And the shoot become a really successful one.

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
Helping the needy and I would like to do it one day with the talent I have.
If you could have done a portfolio for Princess Diana, what colour would you like her to dress in?
I would very much want her to wear subtle colors as she is a person who is simple yet elegant in her lifestyle.
If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
No way. I would use it for my one true passion, photography.
If you had to conceptualise a shoot for president Obama and family, what would you be your ideal location in Sri Lanka?
Maybe a tropical and beach background, because I have rarely seen any pics of him or his family being photographed on a tropical beach. So it would be a first timer.

Would you do a nude shoot?
Yes I would. It’s a form of art photographing the human body. It all depends on the way you shoot it and the way others see it.

Yes Danielle is one of the best models I have photographed. I have a few favourites whom I have photographed in my time.
Most interesting actor or actress you’ve photographed?
The most interesting local actress I have photographed was Achala Alles.
