How hot have these days have become, gosh! It's been hard to survive, so we took the time to make it to Bubble Me Tea. This place has been the talk of Colombo for the past few months and everyone seems to be hooked so we took a trip there in true WTF fashion!

This bubble tea spot is bigger and can host more people than the small and cosy mural portrayed building they were at, and which will re-open very soon, after the facelift.

Seating space is now ample, some overlooking the main road. On the whole, it's chilled but can get suffocatingly crowded during peak times. And that’s the time we chose with all the school kids! I’m happy for the business as it’s really growing. The young, the old, moms, dads and even secret lovers have a great place to enjoy a refreshing drink!

Speaking to the founder Hiruki as why she opened this cool place she says “It was my brother's idea! We had tried it in Singapore, Australia, Thailand and London and loved it and he thought of introducing it to Sri Lanka in 2012. However, due to other work commitments, we were unable to move forward with it at that time. After many more bubble tea experiences during trips overseas and me wanting a change in career, we decided to partner up and start Bubble Me Bubble Tea. The bubble tea trend had already picked up all over the world, and it was bound to gain popularity In Sri Lanka as more and more people travel abroad and enjoy the taste of bubble tea. We knew it would be a refreshing change from all the coffee shops popping up in Colombo, plus Sri Lanka is a tea drinking and tea loving nation! Why not make it even more exciting and delicious with some added flavours and bubbles!”

They've got milk teas, iced teas, yogurt teas and slushies to choose from. In addition to the mainstream tapioca pearls and popping boba, Bubble Me Bubble Tea has also got coffee jelly, ai-yu jelly and coconut jelly on board, but I'm not a big fan of tea so I picked the ones without tea.

My picks were Taro, Honey Dew, Mocha and Strawberry Yoghurt. My favourite has to be the yoghurt as it's amazing, and you can also have it with tea. I love the fact it's all priced under Rs. 500.

I personally feel it will be good to have more staff, as they lost their smiles as the place got super crowed as bubble tea is a happy drink and you need the place to be too!

There is a process to order, and you have to follow it:

1. Choose your drink

2. Level of sugar (25, 50, 75, 100)

3. The topping you would like

As always I love to invade and I did! I met this sweet couple - who are featured in the video - Julie and Yachitha who were chilling with me upstairs.

If you want to beat the heat, better get yourself there! And I asked Hiruki what her words for a new customer would be and she said “We would encourage them to try something from the milk tea range, the Milo milk tea is our number one bes seller as Milo is such a household favourite and paired with tea, you just can't go wrong!”
