On the 5th of May, music enthusiasts in Sri Lanka will be treated to a spectacular event as Dialog together with ‘The Sunil Santha Samajaya’ presents “Olu Pipeela,” a tribute to the father of modern Sinhala music, Sunil Santha. Hosted at the Port City Sales Gallery, this event promises an evening filled with soul-stirring melodies and captivating performances, featuring the internationally acclaimed De Lanerolle Brothers accompanied by the DLB Squared Band directed by Shobi Perera. Sunil Santha, a luminary in Sri Lanka’s music scene, revolutionized traditional Sinhala music with his innovative compositions. Born in 1915, Santha’s fusion of classical Sinhala melodies with Western influences created a unique and captivating sound that resonates with audiences to this day.

Best known for popularizing the Kandyan style of music and introducing innovative approaches to folk melodies, Santha’s legacy continues to inspire generations, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. The De Lanerolle Brothers, Rohan and Ishan, are celebrated classical crossover vocalists renowned for their exceptional vocal harmony and dynamic stage presence. With their mesmerizing voices and diverse repertoire, they have captivated audiences, performing in prestigious venues and events.

Their unique blend of traditional operatic training and contemporary music styles has solidified their position as one of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated musical exports.
