Your Guide To Cheesecake & Brownies

We've all got our sweet cravings, some would love to just gobble as many brownies, whereas you have the silent customer all cosy in a café, enjoying solitary confinement and a good no bake cheesecake!

We went around Colombo upon recommendation to try out some of the best cheesecakes and brownies on offer!

1. Jagro, Cotton Collection

Warm Brownies with Ice Cream - This was probably the king of all brownies! With a smooth marble like texture, perfectly gooey in the middle with a mouthful of nuts. Not to forget the wonderful sprinkle of strawberry slices which is a Jagro signature and a chunky scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Strawberry Cheesecake - This was again, hands down the best strawberry cheesecake! With a creamy texture and the right amount of sweetness, it tasted great with the strawberry sauce and the fresh strawberries.

2. Paradise Road The Gallery Café

Dark Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake - This was quite a treat, you get to enjoy both a lovely cheesecake and thick mousse, although the crust was crumbly it still qualified as being the perfect dessert for a cold evening and a good book!

3. Butter Boutique

Cookie Dough Brownie Cake - If it's cookie dough, brownie and cake you want then head over to Butter Boutique immediately! It's a three-in-one wonderland, but we thought the taste was overpowering each other and was far more mushy than a rounded texture.

Raspberry Cheesecake - If you've tried raspberry, one would know it's not the delectable sweetness of course but a rather strong tangy flavour, which took over our tastebuds. A great pick for berry lovers!

4. Commons Coffee House

Chocolate Fudge Brownie - It looked extraordinarily plain and we looked forward to excitement perhaps on our first bite, it certainly didn't look very appealing and it failed to surprise us.

Blueberry Cheesecake Tart - This certainly was quite interesting, and had a crumbly taste along with a sour patch of blueberries! It's safe to say, that you'd never know if it'll be sweet or sour with your fresh berries!

5. Hilton Colombo

Slice of Brownie - A perfect square with a sprinkle of icing sugar and a scoop of frozen whipped cream. It had the right ratio of nuts to gooeyness.

Oreo Cheesecake - Looked mouthwatering and tasted brilliant! A thick layer of crushed Oreos covered the top and the soft and perfectly sweetened base was just Oreo cheesecake heaven!

We also took a break in between to try out some really good bubble tea at Mabroc Bubble Tea situated at the Liberty Plaza food court.

6. Bakes by Bella

Brownies & Cream Jar - Who knew a jar can bring so much happiness? A layer of Nutella, crushed Oreos, brownies and a layer of cream and this repeated again. Do I need to say more?

7. Coffee Stop, Cinnamon Grand

Blueberry Cheesecake - I started and I couldn't stop. It was just too good, talk about a cheesecakegasm! The perfect base, the perfect texture and a drizzle of crushed blueberry along with a slice of white chocolate for garnish.

8. Skrumptious

Cream Cheese Swirl Brownie - Brownies with a swirl of cream cheese, served with a lots of strawberry and chocolate sauce and not forgetting the whipped cream!

Double Chocolate Brownie Explosion - Yes, double the fun and double the chocolate, only this time it's with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and the signature strawberries and chocolate sauce.
