Elephant Reach Yala, in celebration of International Elephant Day in the month of August, will collaborate with the National Association of Photographers - Sri Lanka (NAPSL) to curate a unique opportunity for photography enthusiasts. Yala Wildlife Photography Competition 2022 will comprise a workshop by the NAPSL and safaris and accommodation organised by Elephant Reach Yala with the event culminating in a competition where participants can win up to Rs 500,000 worth of prices.

Following a workshop in Colombo, participants will head to Yala where they will have the opportunity to experience the renowned Sri Lankan hospitality at Elephant Reach Yala. During their two-night stay, participants will be on two guided safaris where they will be able to capture stunning photographs, enjoy a special BBQ night, and more.

Three final programmes will commence for participants on the 26th August - 28 August (Batch 3), 2nd September - 4th September (Batch 3), and 9th September -11th September (Batch 4).

Submission categories for the photography competition will include “Behaviour of Mammals”, “Behavior of Birds”, and “Scenic Places” and participants can submit their works under the relevant under 16 and above 16 years of age categories.

Elephant Reach Yala, located on the fringes of Yala National Park, is a property ensconced in the striking wilderness. Combining the very best of nature and hospitality, the hotel offers guests a wide range of activities and excursions.

Formed in 1980 by a group of photography enthusiasts, NAPSL has been instrumental in hosting and organising workshops, exhibitions, field trips, and competitions in order to encourage photographers. Unsurprisingly, they have spearheaded a number of important projects and events since its inauguration. A year after the establishment of the organisation, NAPSL organised the first ever colour photographic exhibition in Sri Lanka. The NAPSL also conducts photographic courses, which are recognised by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka.

The event is supported by: Gallery for Life (official exhibition host sponsor), and The Big Life (official business magazine partner).
