The Ballet School of Colombo Celebrates the “Joy of Dance” with Captivating Artistry

Prepare to be enchanted as the Hansel & Gretel Ballet takes centre stage to celebrate the “Joy of Dance” in a mesmerising performance that transcends time and tradition during the first half of the show. The second section of the performance will display the different genres of dance styles they offer such as Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Tap.

Set against the backdrop of mystical times and the winds of change, this production promises to be a visual and emotional feast for dance enthusiasts and art lovers alike. The Ballet School's talented ensemble of dancers has meticulously crafted a performance that embodies the essence of joy, movement, and expression. This production transports the audience into a world where dance becomes a universal language of celebration and unity.

Incorporating elements of Classical Ballet, Jazz Ballet, Tap and Contemporary, audiences can expect a blend of classical elegance, contemporary fusion, and cultural or tales of yore and diversity, all seamlessly woven together to create a unique and unforgettable experience. With captivating choreography, exquisite costumes, and a spellbinding musical score, Joy of Dance invites you to immerse yourself in the world of dance, where emotions run high, and the spirit soars.

The show is put together by the directors of the Ballet School, Romina Gyi, Nadine Magdon-Ismail and Tara Cooke with the help of the school faculty Janindu Ranasinghe, Shalini de Mel and Anitra Gunaratne.

The main cast of the Hansel and Gretel Ballet comprises Shenelle Arasaratnam as Gretel, Okitha Karunadhara and Supushpika Jayakody as Hansel, Anitra Gunaratne as the Witch, Kyra Wafa and Janindu Ranasinghe as father and mother, Ashmita Sriharan as Moon, Lasandi Matharaarachchi as Sandman, Ovindee Rajapakse, Vonara Kiribathgoda, Shalini de Mel, Kiara Wijewardene as the main sweets.
