Temperatures in the nest determine the sex of the hatchlings. Warmer temperatures produce females; a cooler temperature produces males. So I have 2 more months to see how my eggs are doing
I was given a detailed insight to everything by Charith and he was very clear on how they work and how we can help
For a very long time turtles were unprotected, but since the 80s they have changed their thinking specially with all the pollution and environmental changes
“Nest is laid during the night. When a nest is found, we build a barrier around it to protect it. If a nest is in danger of tidal inundation or storm water run off, to relocate it to a safer location. The nest is then monitored throughout incubation, which is about two months (50-60 days)” says Charith
World Sea Turtle Day, June 16, is a day used to honour andhighlight the importance of sea turtles. These creatures, like any other creature, are magnificent in their own way.
Not only are sea turtles beautiful animals but they also show incredible perseverance and resilience - after all, they have been nesting on beaches for millions of years. So of course they deserve their own day dedicated to their awesomeness!
You can also Adopt-a-nest
Help protect turtles when they're most vulnerable - before they've even hatched!
Your adopted nest provides funds for them for environmental and educational objectives. They even keep you updated with email and progress throughout the hatching process.
I even met a few wounded and hurt turtles, living their last few days in comfort, let’s all be environmentally responsible
And when you have time, go check these guys out love their work, and I love their passion.
