On the fringe of FGLF 2017

Apart from the main Fairway Galle Literary Festival, many other events are billed to take place on the sidelines. Exhibitions, food related events, Jazz in the Fort, a fashion show and the Cockerel Literary Festival are just of the extra activities organised to keep the literati and the glitterati entertained. 


A hub of activity from the 11-15th of January, The Galle Fort will be transformed in more ways than one. 


Here's a list of what's on the sidelines.

 



The Nightmare Series

Street Artist Chales Uzzell-Edwards, a street artist known as Pure Evil will exhibit a series of works known as the Nightmare Series. They are an illustration of the heartbreak and sadness we have experienced in the past. 
@ Fort Bazaar Hotel and Spa, 12-15 January.

Shaping Texture
Presented by the Hempel Galleries, Sue Harrigan will present her work which reveals her love of natural form and texture.
@ The Amangalla Spa, Amangalla Hotel. 12-15 January.

Bawa Staircases
David Robson and Sebastian Posingis enamoured by the diversity and ingenuinty of Geoffrey Bawa's staircase designs present potographs of these exquisite structures.
@ Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel 12-15 January

Art at the Fest
Leo Art and artists in resident programmed designed to encourage creativity in the fine arts will present and exhbition featuring a collection of canvases from 10 selected contemporary artists.
@Fort Printers 12-15 January

Nature through the eyes of love and faith
Presenting her maiden exhibition in Sri Lanka, Brit-Sri Lankan artist Yasodhara Arawwawela presents her collection of paintings which are emmotive.
@ Old Dutch House 11-15 January

 

The Cockeral Literary Fringe Festival
Making its debut a the FGLF, this event featues writers, poets and performing artistes overlooking the Galle Bay.
@ Mercmarine Training Residential Waterside Training Centre, Custom Road. 13-14 January.

 

Jazz in the Fort
Rounding off the festival on a musical note, the Colombo Jazz and Blues Festival team will host a free jazz concert featuring a number of local and international musicians.
@ Law Court Square. 15 January 12-6pm

 

Tropical by Spa Ceylon
Various shades of the tropics will sashay on the runway as Spa Ceylon present their latest resort wear collection during the jazz.
@Law Court Square 15th January at 4.30pm

 

Unilever Food Lounge
Taste the story of Sri Lanka through its many flavours and spices and enjoy fusion cuisine inspired by Galle and its stories, presented by Unilever.
@Law Court Square 11-14 January.
