The Movement Lab, in creating positive social impact through storytelling, has released its tenth project, a documentary film titled “FootPrint.” Directed by eight filmmakers—Shanaka Bodiyabaduge, Asanka Jayawardena, Yoshitha Perera, Sameera Weerasekara, Malinda Hidellaarachchi, Krishan Rajaratne, Udara Abeysundara, and Chanaka Wijamunige—the film focuses on various environmental challenges currently facing Sri Lanka.

The premiere of “FootPrint” was held recently at PVR Cinemas, offering an immersive cinematic experience to the audience. The film aims to open doors to a sustainable future through its narrative as it explores the complex relationship between humans and the environment across four chapters. Capturing a range of settings, from the urbanization of Colombo to the serene ecosystems where elephants roam freely, the film invites its viewers to join a collective effort for harmonious coexistence.

It delves into the environmental consequences of rapid urbanization, the critical need for water conservation amidst the threat of plastic pollution, the complex issues of livestock farming and its environmental impact, and the urgent need for coexistence between humans and elephants in a world of shrinking habitats. “FootPrint” is a collaborative production by The Movement Lab, VegVoyages Foundation, Empathy Films, and Thrive Philanthropy. The production team includes creative producer Sumudu Malalagama, associate producers Sofna Yusi and Shova Bujal, and executive producers Zack Lovas and Dr. Harsha Atmakuri.
