Good Feng Shui design requires the family home to be built and arranged according to favourable orientations so that the home and its residents benefit from the positive energies of the environment. These energies are invisible and intangible, but they exert powerful influences. When you are ‘in the flow’ and the energy of your home is healthy, you will attract positive life experiences such as good health and fortune.

However, when the chi is stagnant, obstacles arise causing illness, relationship conflicts and even financial difficulties. Fortunately, Feng Shui can foresee many of these obstacles and mitigate or eliminate their negative effects before they happen.
Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese system of balancing our physical environment to promote harmony and a sense of well-being. From a home’s natural surroundings down to its furnishings and decor, Feng Shui philosophy is based on the fact that everything is interconnected through energy, or “chi,” and how we arrange those objects can affect all aspects of our lives.

From ancient times, the Chinese have attributed the well-being of families to the intangible forces that surround their homes which is referred to as 'Feng Shui', literally translates as "wind and water" and this is said to have a direct bearing on the success and happiness of families. Feng Shui addresses almost the entire spectrum of human aspiration.

The practice operates at various levels. It can be highly personalised when practised according to specific compass school formulas, or it can be broad-based and generalised. Feng Shui design is not just confined to interiors but even the exterior and
facade have a strong influence on the quality of energy in and around a building. The exterior decor, roofline and door are quite important.

House roof design style is an important element of good Feng Shui. It is said that the right roof style aids in attracting wealth and good luck. The roofing style and colours should be attractive to Feng Shui house exterior design. The roof design should be solid and made of the best materials. Although the ideal roof designs of Feng Shui, homes are round-shaped roofs from an aesthetics and design point of view, it may not be possible to adhere to this shape in all buildings.

The round roof styles represent continuity and have no beginning or end. The round roof styles and curvy details add softness to architectural designs and symbolise infinity. Hence having such a design with matching decor on the facade can enhance the building's positivity. The rectangular roof styles and sloped roof designs represent wisdom, perseverance, determination, ability to communicate and passion for travelling. However, having them softly curved would be beneficial as it will enable the life energy to flow around the house and into the home too. Pagoda roof design has soft curves and round edges that promote energy flow and Feng Shui for wealth, whereas a symmetrical sloped roof design or gable roof design enhances good luck and happiness.

Ensuring a good roof design is another approach to creating a harmonious and prosperous home.
