Since our busy (lazy) schedules don’t give us much time to create effortless, snatched looks, we asked Nisha Seneviratne to guide us through saving time and looking flawless (like her base!). She created for us a day look that can be transformed into a night look for your night out.

“The day look is a very simple one so that you can get out the door fast! I have full coverage foundation on and a slight highlight and contour. I applied a very natural shade of eye shadow on my eyes with a little shimmer on the lid. For lips I dabbed on a little bit of the Victoria’s Secret glossy lipstick.’’

“For the night look all I added was more eye shadow using a fluffy brush to create a more dramatic look, popped on some liner and added false lashes. Falsies always make the eyes open up more for a night out. Incase you don't want to put lashes a few coats of mascara would do. I added a pinkish nude lipstick to balance out the overall look.”

1.       Could you tell us how we can go  for a day to night look ?

A day look is the basic ground work to any evening/night look. If this is done right, then the night look barely needs much work for its transformation. A good liquid foundation to start with, set with a powder foundation has half your work cut out for you. Then go ahead with some powder contour/highlight. You can apply some a soft nude pink eye shadow or a colour that compliments your skin tone on the lid; followed by some mascara on your top & bottom lashes. Finish off the look with a nice lipstick of your choice. For the night time look, all you have to do is to touch up you powder & contour/highlight, do a darker eye shadow in the outer corner of the eye followed by wined liner & lashes. To finish off the look opt for a darker or brighter lip colour.

2. What are the best lipstick brands and shades for our Sri Lankan skin?

Anastasia Beverly Hills, Kat Von D, Huda Beauty and MAC, all have amazing colour range and different types of textures as well.

3. How do you pick your shade of foundation?

Foundation is your base and it’s the most important part of any makeup look. You need to get the foundation shade tested/matched to the side of your face and NOT the back of your hand. This way you can select one closest to you face & neck making you look even toned.

4.What are your holy grail makeup products?

A good foundation, mascara, and eye lash curler, brow pencil/pomade, bronzer and a peachy pink lipstick.
