‘Stars on Parade’, a one-of-a-kind musical extravaganza by Jith Pieris in aid of the landslide victims in Nuwara Eliya will showcase some of the best talents in town. The performers come from different backgrounds and walks of life, yet they all have music in their blood. Therefore, ‘Stars on Parade’ will be an unforgettable experience for these wonderful individuals.

The show will be open to performances by some of Colombo’s leading choirs, soloists, sopranos and dancing items choreographed by Kevin Nugara. The success of this evening lies in the hands of the amazing performers and the Daily Mirror Life spoke to a few of them to listen to their feedback. Following are the excerpts:

Danushi Wijeyakulasuriya : “I will be doing a solo named ‘Meine lippen sie kussen so heiss’ from the operetta Giuditta by Franz Lehar. It’s a German number and it translates to ‘my lips kiss with such fire’. It’s a very flirtatious, showy number and singing it is so much fun. I am very happy to be a part of this show and above all it’s for a worthy cause. I haven’t seen many shows done for the landslide victims and this will be a good one.”

Amandhi Caldera : “Uncle Jith wanted me to sing ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ and ‘Something’ from Chicago, the musical. I think both of them are from amazing musicals and it’s a great privilege to work with him.”

Eshantha De Andrado : “I first worked for Jith at the Christmas carol, ‘It’s Christmas Time in the city – Silver Bells’ which was three or four years back. After that I am working with him again at ‘Stars on Parade’. Here I will be singing ‘O’l Man River’ from Showboat. The songs identified are amazing and it will be another unforgettable event by Jith himself.”

In addition to their individual performances, the St. Cecilia’s Choir led by Francis De Almeida will bring about a touch of classical music along with an item named ‘Ape Deshaya’ which will be sung in the three languages. The Holy Family Convent is ready to deliver an item from Sister Act while the Soul Sounds Academy choir will set the stage on fire with a number from ‘Mamma Mia’.

‘Stars on Parade’ presented by the Creative Arts Foundation will come to life at the Lionel Wendt on Thursday, April 30, from 7.30pm onwards.
